Multistop is a high-performance, water-based sealing primer designed to prevent discolouration on interior wooden surfaces. It’s specifically formulated to block knot staining, yellowing and dark patches caused by the natural migration of wood oils, resins and tannins, stopping them from bleeding through your topcoat over time.
Recommended topcoats
For best results:
-
Furniture, doors & trim → Tikkurila Helmi 30
-
Wooden floors → Tikkurila Betolux Akva
Used together, Multistop and these topcoats provide excellent coverage, durability and a smooth, professional finish.
Tools We Recommend for the Best Finish
Using the right tools will make a huge difference. Our team always suggests:
- Alchemist 4-inch Microfiber Roller → Brilliant for avoiding streaks or patchiness
- Sanding Blocks → A quick sand in between coats if you want an extra smooth finish
Important:
To ensure effective blocking, Multistop must not be overcoated too soon. As stated on the technical data sheet, it is “recoatable the following day.” Where possible, allow 24 hours before overcoating. If the primer has been applied heavily, or conditions are cool, damp, or poorly ventilated, allow longer. Overcoating too early may reduce the blocking performance.
