Tikkurila Fontefloor PU Matt is a durable two-pack polyurethane paint designed for painting interior floor tiles. It creates a tough matt finish that resists moisture, grease and everyday wear, ideal for bathrooms, kitchens and hallways.
Please Note:
Suitable for ceramic and stoneware tiles. Terracotta is an example of stoneware. Not suitable for porcelain or for natural stone, i.e. granite, marble, slate, limestone, etc.
Do I need a Primer?
Yes. Before applying Fontefloor PU Matt, tiles must first be primed with Fontefloor EP 100.
Application
Follow these steps for the best results when painting floor tiles with Fontefloor PU Matt.
1. Prepare the Surface
• Remove any limescale, grease or dirt from the tiles
• Clean thoroughly with a suitable degreasing cleaner
• Rinse with clean water and allow the tiles and grout lines to dry completely
• Remove any old or damaged silicone before painting
• Use masking tape to protect surrounding surfaces
• Turn underfloor heating off before starting
2. Apply the Primer
Tiles must first be primed using Fontefloor EP 100.
• Mix the base and hardener in a 3:1 ratio
• Add 10–20% water and mix thoroughly
• Apply to corners and edges with a brush
• Use a roller to coat the remaining floor evenly
• Allow to dry overnight before applying the topcoat
3. Apply Fontefloor PU Matt
• Mix the base and hardener in a 10:1 ratio
• Add 10–20% water and mix well
• Apply to edges and detailed areas with a brush
• Use a felt or microfibre roller to coat the rest of the floor evenly
• Leave to dry overnight
4. Drying Time
• The floor can typically be used again after 2 days
• The coating reaches full hardness after approximately 7 days
Avoid heavy wear or harsh cleaning during this time.
